LICENSING FOR TEEN DRIVERS:

Must pass a written examination at the DMV to receive a provisional instruction permit.

The provisional instruction permit is valid for 1 year and allows the student (age 15 1/2 to 17 1/2 years old) to practice and prepare for the driving test at the DMV location of their choice.

Once they completed the 6-hour training requirement from our school, we will issue them a gold certificate of completion.

The student must wait until they are 16 years old before they can attempt the driving exam.

The parent/guardian must certify that the student have completed 50 hours of driving practice of which 10 hours are from night-time driving.

Once they pass the driving exam, they will be issued a temporary provisional license from the DMV until they get their provisional driver license card in the mail. When you become 18 years old, your provisional status will be removed from your driver's license.

Must pass a written examination at the DMV to receive a California instruction permit for adults.

Once you have an instruction permit, you have up to 1 year to practice with an accompanying CA-licensed driver who is 18 years old or above. Alternatively, you can also hire a driving school instructor to help with the driver training.

As long as you are 18 years old or older, you can take the driving exam whenever you are ready.

Once you pass the driving exam, you will be issued a temporary license from the DMV which allows you to drive until you receive the driver license card in the mail.
